🐍 Someone has been bitten by a snake
⚡ Do this right now
- Keep the person as still and calm as possible — movement speeds venom spread.
- Get to a hospital immediately; this is the priority over any first aid.
📋 Step by step
- Keep the bitten limb below heart level and immobilized, similar to how you'd splint a fracture.
- Remove rings, watches, or tight clothing near the bite before swelling starts.
- Note the snake's color and shape if it's safe to do so, or take a photo from a distance — never try to catch or kill it.
- Get to the nearest hospital as fast as possible; anti-venom is time-sensitive.
- Keep the person calm and reassured — panic increases heart rate and venom circulation.
🚫 Do not
- Don't cut the wound or try to suck out the venom — this doesn't work and can cause infection.
- Don't apply a tight tourniquet — this can cause serious tissue damage.
- Don't apply ice directly to the bite.
- Don't give the person alcohol or caffeine.
🎒 What you'll need
- Transport to the nearest hospital with anti-venom capability
- A description or photo of the snake, if safely possible

✅ After it's over
Even if symptoms seem mild, complete the full hospital observation period — some venoms act slowly.
